Click on image to zoom inOnly the other night I was looking back thru some old family photos when I stumbled upon two similar shots spaced about 30 years apart. Both involving my dad. The first one is of little ol’ me on the frozen beach at Stonehaven (As you can see, I’ve inherited my dad’s knobbly knees) and the second one is of my son Harris on the frozen beach at Portobello. Both, needless to say, taken at the height of summer. Don’t worry folks, my father doesn’t have a back complaint or severe spinal injury of any kind. Although we tend not to take him down the promenade too much these days just in case.

Click on image to zoom inSpotted literally yards from the Heart of Midlothian’s ground in Gorgie after Aberdeen’s visit last Saturday. (let’s not talk about the result). Some intrepid Dons supporter has hijacked Leith’s latest campaign for Irn-Bru. “Stand Free” being one of the favourite anthems sung by the travelling faithful. It’s enough to make the regulars at the Tynecastle Arms choke on their lager. Right lads. Easter Road next.

Click on image to zoom inSaw this South African ad for a VW people carrier, with the headline “The family car”, and a shot of a Basset Hound sniffing a hyena’s rear end. Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on? Have I missed something? Or is it a quaint turn of phrase from that part of the world? Or am I just not with it anymore? Help.

Click on image to zoom inThank goodness the younger generation are behaving themselves these days. Are kids getting taller or do they all carry step ladders around with them these days to avoid missing these opportune moments for a bit of casual vandalism.
